  Analysis and Optimization of 12/8-pole Doubly Salient Permanent Magnet Motor
  Doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) motor is introduced in 1990s as a novel controllable AC speed regulating system. This DSPM motor essentially adopts the same structure as a SR motor but with permanent magnets placed in the stator or rotor. This kind of machine offers the advantages of higher power density, higher efficiency, and wider speed range compared to the other motors. When the rotor diameter bigger or running at high speed, PM located in the stator of the motor will exceed its intensity due to the centrifugal force exterior of the motor rotor, destroy the neodymium standard state PM. So the stator located PM motor is studied in this paper.The basic theory and evolution are described. On the base of comparing with SR motor, the structure and running principle of DSPM motor are introduced.Due to the high nonlinearities of the DSPM motor, the new method FEM is used to analyse the magnetic field distribution,
  PM flux linkage, back EMF, inductance, torque ripple, and etc. To enhance the power density and decrease torque triple, The structure of the motor is studied as a emphasis in this paper. The size of permanent-magnet and thickness of airgap are the two most immediate and obvious factors, which influence the torque ripple. These two aspects are analyzed particularly by using the finite element method (FEM) in this paper. Point out the relationship between torque ripple and PM width and airgap thickness. Then using the finite element method (FEM) calculates and emulates the output torque of DSPM motor designed. The result is equal to the theory, and validates the validity of the design.A new effective method fuzzy control is used to control DSPM motor. The mathematics model is showed in this paper, and then designs a fuzzy controller with fuzzy control based on the motor characters and theory of fuzzy control. To test the validity of the design, Matlab is used to emulate the motor drive, The results prove better running character and speed regulating of the DSPM motor drive .
